The BRN's published target for an online license and certificate renewal is within 72 hours when the submission is complete. That is a target—not permission to practice on an expired license.

Open the application status
Use BreEZe to confirm that payment and the renewal application were received and look for a deficiency notice.

Verify the public license record
Use DCA License Search rather than a receipt alone to confirm the renewed expiration date and status.

Check the live processing page
The BRN updates its processing-time table. Compare the current target and the “items received” period with your submission.

Escalate the right issue
After the published checkpoint, follow the BRN's fingerprint-unit or contact instructions and provide the requested identifying and Live Scan information securely.
No grace period
A submitted application is not an active license.
California BRN renewal guidance says there is no grace period after expiration. Confirm the current license status before practicing and resolve any discrepancy with the BRN or your employer's verification process.
