California RN · CE audit
Make your CE record audit-ready.
The BRN conducts random compliance audits. Start with the 60-second record check, then review each course locally for dates, hours, proof fields, provider details, and duplicate titles.
60-second proof check
How organized is the proof behind your CE total?
No course, certificate, license, or identity information is requested or saved.
Course-by-course proof checker
Check the arithmetic and documentation gaps behind each course.
Add only course titles, dates, hours, and yes/no proof details. Do not enter your name, license number, certificate number, or other identifying information.
Completion certificate
Keep the original certificate or grade slip, not only a spreadsheet row.
Course and provider names
Make the names match the completion certificate exactly.
Active CEP number
Verify the provider through BreEZe; expired provider status can make a course ineligible.
Completion date
The course generally must fall within the renewal period that applies to you.
Contact hours
Record the hours awarded, and do not count identical course content twice in one cycle.
Four-year retention
Keep supporting records for four years so they remain available after renewal.
What ShiftProof exports
One clean course ledger.
The free CSV includes course, provider, CEP number, completion date, hours, and implicit-bias status. It helps organize the response, but it does not replace the certificates the BRN may request.

Before relying on a course
Confirm that the provider's CEP number is active, the content is acceptable for California RN CE, and the completion date falls in your renewal period. CPR/BLS, orientation, and some self-improvement courses generally do not qualify under BRN guidance.
